I was super excited when Kara asked me to photograph her + Phil's intimate wedding. One could say I used several exclamation points 🙂 She shared that it was going to be a small wedding and that the ceremony would only include her immediate family. Of course, this meant that as her photographer I would have the opportunity to be one those very special guests.
Kara + Phil married in Kara's family church in Sycamore, IL. We arrived as they were getting ready for the ceremony. They had a guitarist play as family entered. Phil was joined by his two brothers and Kara was later joined by her sister and her childhood friend. There was a tiny guest who made her way up onto the altar. I enjoyed watching Kara's expressions as she stood facing her life companion. Father Lamb pronounced Kara + Phil husband and wife and they made their way out of the church and quickly embraced their loved ones.
We took family portraits outside of the church. There was this vibrant red door that clearly reflected the immense love Kara + Phil share with each other and with their friends and family who were present to witness such a beautiful life moment.
After the family Portraits Kara + Phil made their way to Phil's parents home in Geneva, IL. Once gathered at Phil's childhood home we were greeted by a stunning backyard reception area. Kara and her family put together outdoor lighting and mismatched centerpieces. Phil set up the music playlist and then tapped some delicious beer kegs.
We took couple portraits in a park right behind the backyard. There was a huge open field that I imagine Phil played around in as a little boy, and was now basking in his wedding day portraits with his lovely bride.
Following the couple portraits, Kara + Phil joined their friends and family and celebrated their big day! They ate delicious food and drinks. They continued the celebration with a dance party complete with a disco ball!
Congrats again, my dear friends. I love you very very much!
