Lesley + JohnMark reached out to me back in May inquiring if I was available to photograph their wedding. I knew right away that I wanted to work with them when they shared that they waited until May 4th to send the email as they had seen in my About Me page that I love Star Wars and May 4th is celebrated as “May the 4th be with you” 🙂
We later met through Google Chat since they live in D.C. They shared a little about themselves and also about how they met. They were both roommates while attending UW Madison, but it wasn’t until they graduated that they started dating. They also talked about plans for their wedding. I have to admit, I was a bit distracted as they talked because I could see their chihuahua Paco jumping in and out of the screen and eventually onto the couch. That little guy sure wanted to be involved…which I was excited about because I later got to meet him during their engagement session!
I met Lesley + JohnMark while they visited Madison a couple weeks ago. It was a beautiful summer evening with one of the prettiest sunsets I have seen. We met at Tenney Park, which has become one of my favorite places to photograph. I got to learn a little more about them and as well as learn more about their plans for their wedding. We walked around the park, taking advantage of the gorgeous sunlight. Paco was happy to be involved and this was apparent when he decided to chew through his leash in order to get in on more of the pictures!
I’m always amazed when couples share how nervous they are before we start and then witness them get more comfortable and even appear to enjoy their time together in front of my camera. That’s my favorite thing about engagement sessions. It’s such a great time for the couples to get a feel for how I photograph. This way we can all relax and enjoy portrait sessions during their big day!
I love how Lesley + JohnMark’s engagement session turned out. The photographs capture their love so beautifully. I am grateful that they have chosen me to photograph their wedding next September!
